Yo soy la otra, la otra
y a nada tengo derecho,
por que no llevo un anillo,
con una fecha por dentro.

No tengo ley que me abone,
ni puerta donde llamar,
y me alimento a escondías

Deciden ir a vivir juntos.

I'm the other one, the other one
and I have no right to anything,
because I'm not wearing a ring,
with a date inside.

I don't have a law that credits me,
no door to knock on,
and I feed myself to hide
with your kisses and your bread.

Yes, it is "the romance of the other", which in my memory has the voice of Concha Piquer and today, has slipped into my head in the middle of writing my next novel. And it's because my environment knows that I'm interested in Intergenerational (obviously, that's the name of this blog), it sends me related articles.
My blog has been very abandoned lately, I admit that the wave of routine has submerged me. I reach the everyday things but the reflection that I want to give to this space...no. But now I have a few days off and as soon as I stop, rest and get out of that routine, the ideas flow.
I have received articles on the ageing of people who have different characteristics, specificities that make them or their environment fear that old age may become a bumpy period. I will write articles about this topic or give information about articles that I have found interesting. Now I want to focus on what I have called "the loose ends", those affective relationships that the Law does not recognize and therefore, are left unprotected. Perhaps you will tell me that the Piquer situation doesn't exist, that if they don't get married, it's because they don't want to. Well, I answer that sometimes this is posible, and sometimes it's not. I'll explain: there are other cases, but I was thinking of the reconstructed families. Let's name them so they'll be easier to identify. Pedro is divorced and falls in love with Maria. They decide to move in together. Because they both have children from previous partners, children learn to live as siblings. They have their conflicts, their ups and downs, but also their happy moments. Let's say, for the sake of simplicity, that Pedro has two sons, Juan and Clara and María a daughter, Paula. Pedro and Maria feel very well together and decide to have a baby, which we will call Lucas. Maria's mother comes home a lot. Juan and Clara, who live far away from their grandparents, create a very strong bond with that grandmother whom we will call Teresa. She takes the four children to the park, to the zoo, picks them up at school when Pedro and Maria can't... The norm. Yes, except that the normality of any family has a weak point: if Pedro and Maria break up as a couple, whether they are married or not, there are ties that will suddenly go unprotected. Lucas, hopefully, will be the most fortunate in this story. He will go to his father's house, Pedro and his siblings Juan and Clara and he will go to his mother's house and he will have his sister Paula and his grandmother Teresa. But what will become of the other children? What will happen to Paula, who suddenly finds herself separated from those " almost siblings " and whom she will not be able to see again because they are not legally linked by any bond? Building a reconstituted family is not easy and for it to work, all members have had to be emotionally involved. Hopefully, Peter and Mary will understand their children's pain, but in a divorce it's so easy to get carried away by the pain of a couple! And then Juan and Clara who were so happy to have a grandmother involved. They've lost Teresa. By a system of family loyalties, it is understood that the relationship must be broken.
My objective with this is, as with all my articles and interviews, to give rise to reflection. We can agree or not... but these are situations that exist and that are becoming more and more frequent.
If you, who read this article, at least I have been able to make you aware of a family situation that you did not know, I will be satisfied by it.
